Lagoon

Yesterday we took our kids to Lagoon. Ryan has been beyond excited for the last 2 weeks! In fact the night before, he could not sleep. He finally went to bed around 10:30 because he was so excited. My sister works at Harmon's and they have such a fun employee Lagoon Day. They have wristbands for the family and you can get food for super cheap to free. We got hot dogs and hamburgers. But I think the kids favorite foods were Cheetos and cotton candy. It was Ellie's first experience with Cotton Candy and I thought we'd have to hose her down because she was so sticky!!
I didn't know if Ellie would be able to ride the kiddie rides. She is so crazy that I didn't know if she would sit still, or if she would even be big enough to go on them. Of course, Eric told me that she would be fine and he was right. She went on tons of rides with Ryan and loved every minute of it. There were some rides that she could have cared less about, but she didn't complain, she just was along for the ride (literally).

Ryan LOVED all of the rides he went on. If I had to pick some favorites, however, I think they would be the tilt-a-whirl, flying aces, helicopters, the ride with the guns (I don't remember the name), well pretty much everything else. He was sad that he couldn't go on Jet Star 2, but I think in a couple of years, he'll be going on everything.

Eric and I took the kids home so his parents could watch them while we went back and enjoyed some time on the "big kid" rides. Ryan was asleep before we got out of the parking lot at Lagoon. He was so sleepy. When we got home, I picked him up and said that Grandpa Jones was going to come play with him because Mommy and Daddy had to go somewhere. I was not about to tell him we were going back to Lagoon. Ryan tried to look at me, but his head was bobbing around because he was so sleepy and with his eyes shut he said (in a drunken tone), "Mom I want to go ride some more rides). We will be going back in the next couple of weeks, and I think in the next couple of years we will be getting season tickets. I was so excited to go take the kids to Lagoon, and I was not disappointed. It was a child's heaven!
So, Eric and I went back around 6:00 to ride some more rides. We went on everything we could as fast as we could. By the time we left I was ready to throw up. We literally had to stop at a gas station on the way home so I could get a drink (I was not going to pay $3 for a coke at Lagoon). And when we got home, I literally went straight to the bathroom. I didn't throw up but sure felt like it. It gets worse and worse after each child. I think next time I go to Lagoon, I will take the fast rides a couple at a time, doing them all together was so not a good idea for me. But it was so much fun spending time with Eric. He is so much fun and I LOVE him!!!

Taylorsville Dayzz

My kids crack me up! We went to Taylorsville Dayzz (yes that is how you spell it), a couple of weeks ago and our kids just loved it! Ellie especially loves the fireworks, and Ryan loves playing frisbee and football in the park. On a side note, Ryan loved playing frisbee so much that he got hit a couple of times in the face, one of those times giving him a bloody nose. After we got him all cleaned up, he wanted to keep playing frisbee. We suggested throwing around the football.
Ellie just kept wandering around. She especially liked a little sink hole in the ground. She would walk, always in that direction, and everytime she got near the hole, she walked right into and fell on in. We just laughed and laughed, especially since she kept going to that area and falling. No, she did not get hurt, she just got right back up and did it again.

We bought Ryan a light up sword, and he thought that he was a jedi. It was hilarious to watch him, try and get everybody with his sword. Just look at his stance, and he learned it all on his own. I am so proud!

 

 

 

 

The 4th of July

I have decided that maybe I should try to catch up on some of the things that we have been doing the last several months. The fourth of July is one of my all time favorite holidays! I love the patriotism shown by so many, I love the BBQ's, spending time with family, the parade, the fireworks, I love it all ! This year was so much fun. My family went to the Murray fun days parade. We have been doing this for years and years! This year was a little different, because Eric and I were the only other ones, beside those living at my parents house, that were able to make it. We still had lots of fun, Ryan and Ellie got way more candy than they know what to do with (it is still in the trunk of the car).

I was also able to run the 5k before the parade began. Since, I just ran the Wasatch Back, I was in condition to run it. My goal was to finish in no more than 33 minutes (keeping a 10 minute pace), well I finished in just over 30 minutes which is really good for me. So, pat on my back!!

More Relay Pics

Ragnar Relay

Last weekend, I was able to run the Wasatch Back Relay. We had such a great time. For those who don't know it is a relay race that begins in Logan and ends in Park City, Utah. It is 188 miles split up with 12 team members. We each ran 3 legs and had a ball. This was our van. Eric, Maureen, Scott, Angie, me and Brittany. Thanks for so much fun!

This was handing off the bracelet to Brittany, just after I finished my last run. It felt so good to finish. I've never ran that far before in my life. In total I ran about 13 miles, and I had probably the easiest leg.

So now that I had so much fun and trained so hard, I registered for a half marathon in August. If I could run 13 miles, I can train to run them all at the same time and finish a half marathon. Hopefully this is the beginning of a good relationship between myself and running!

Ellie's Penny

I LOVE my little Ellie. She is a handful, but so so cute and fun. So, for the past couple of weeks she has been acting a little funny. She was choking on her food, drooling and had a terrible cough. I thought that she may have eaten something and had it stuck in her throat. So, I spoke with the doctors about it and they said maybe I should have an x-ray done. I was ready to do the x-ray when she pooped out a button. A big black button, I have a picture but will spare all of you.

So, she continued to have a cough, but I thought it was because she had some residual swelling from the button. Well her cough didn't get any better, she didn't have any other symptoms, and she was still choking on some of her food, that she never had problems with prior. So, after some more discussion with my great doctors, they said that I should probably take her in to get an x-ray. I just thought that I was crazy, but I decided that I should do the x-ray just to make sure things looked OK. So, we go to the new Riverton hospital (which is great), and the x-ray tech did the x-ray and immediately said "Whoa, did you know about this?" I looked on the screen and there is a huge coin in her throat!!!! What??? It looked like a quarter it looked so big. So, they immediately send me up to Primary Children's hospital to have them remove it. Since it had been in her system so long (mother of the year), they had to take her into surgery and remove it because they were worried about swelling and scar tissue. So, we spent ALL DAY at the ER at Primary's. Finally they took her in for surgery around 8:00 at night. That little girl is a trooper, she had hardly anything to eat in the morning, and couldn't eat at all until the surgery was over. She didn't take a nap, and still smiled and talked to the doctors and was a little angel. She didn't even flinch, when they put the IV in her hand. She was the last surgery of the day and when we went into the pre-op room, the doctor jokingly said "So are there any bets on what year the coin is?" They were so cute, and Ellie charmed all of them with her cute goofy grin!

After 15 minutes or so the surgeon came into the waiting room, with a jar that had the penny in it! That is the most expensive Penny there is. I will forever keep it, and show all of Ellie's boyfriends :) They sent us home shortly after because Ellie was doing so well. It is so fun to be able to feed her bread and goldfish again. We are also very grateful that it didn't do any damage. She had a small ulceration from the pressure of the penny, but nothing damaging. It will be nice when everything doesn't go in the mouth anymore.

What's up??

So, I have been informed (thanks Debbie) that I am a slacker and need to update my blog.

It is amazing to think about all the things that have happened since I last updated...that being October.

So, we sold our little townhouse in Murray, moved in with Eric's parents while we looked for a new house, and are currently in the process of buying a new house. Our new place has a huge yard, which I am super excited for. Ryan is already talking about his new room and his birthday. I can't believe he will be 3 years old soon.

So, updates for Ryan. He is absolutely in love with anything that he can turn into a sword or a gun. He loves Buzz Lightyear and Batman. Jumping off anything makes for an exciting time! He strokes my hair and says that I am beautiful (I'm in love with this kid:). He things that Doc from Snow White is Santa Claus. He loves pears and milk. He loves playing with Daddy's "i-pops" (Ipod), he LOVES playing with Ellie and he is one of the most polite kids (for the most part).

Ellie...she is a million times harder than Ryan ever was. She is an absolute doll, but needs a chain around her. She won't sit still, everything goes in her mouth, and she loves to make a mess!! She will find any bag, shelf or basket and empty it in record time then move on the next clean area. She recently ate a button, that was lodged in her throat for about 10 days before she pooped it out. I have a picture, but I'll spare you all! She thinks it is so much fun to torment Ryan. She has the goofiest grin, that I absolutely love! She loves to dance to any music and sings when Ryan sings. And she has stolen mine and Eric's heart.

We had a great time over the holidays and miss our old neighbors and friends like CRAZY!! We are excited to move into our new home and can't wait for the spring and summer when we can get outside and play.

I have recently started training for the Wasatch back relay. I am so excited and nervous. This is way too much information and way too messy, but this is the best way I can sum up the last 4 months.
